My Story

I’m Nuha, a third-year medical student pursuing a Master of Arts in Design in Health alongside my medical training. My background bridges medicine, design, and research, shaping how I approach healthcare challenges with a human-centered lens. I completed my undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas with a minor in Visual Arts. My passion for healthcare improvement is rooted in personal experience—growing up as the daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants, I saw firsthand how systemic barriers in medicine impact underserved communities. When my father lost peripheral vision due to untreated glaucoma, I realized the critical need for culturally sensitive, accessible care. I’m particularly interested in ophthalmology, immigrant health, and global health, focusing on designing patient-centered solutions that bridge medicine and human-centered design. My experiences—from taking patient histories in a WHO-funded hospital in Bangladesh to creating educational health animations—have deepened my commitment to improving health literacy and access. Beyond medicine and design, I explore my creativity through crocheting, oil painting, and digital art, which fuel my passion for visual storytelling in healthcare.
